By Divyanshi Sharma: Niantic, the developer of the popular game Pokemon Go, announced its first-ever Pokemon Go fest back in July 2017. The event was held in Chicago’s Grant Park on July 22 and this was the first time that a real-life event of the game was announced. The game has been around since 2016 and remains widely popular in Japan even today. Perhaps that is why Niantic chose to hold the fest in Osaka, Japan, this year.
Keeping alive the Pokemon Go annual fest tradition, the event kick-started in Osaka, Japan, on August 4 and players at different locations gathered around to collect some rare Pokemon. If you happen to be in Osaka, Japan, at this time, don’t be surprised if you see people standing in a group at various locations with their phones in their hands, trying to catch some of those pocket monsters. Read on to know all about the event, how to collect some rare pokemon, and more.
Pokemon Go Fest kicks off in Japan: Dates and ticket price
The Pokemon Go Fest began on August 4 and will last until August 6. The players who purchase the tickets to the game will get a chance to engage in some fun battles, collect some rare Pokemon, and explore the city while doing the same.
“X marks the spot, and the spot is Osaka! Pokémon GO Fest 2023 is coming to one of the largest urban areas in the world, and it sounds like there’s a gold mine of fun activities all around the city! Trainers will want to check their maps—GO Fest 2023: Osaka is split into different experiences between two locations: Expo ’70 Commemorative Park and throughout Suita City and Osaka City,” the game’s official website states.
Players can experience the game on the day of the event in two stages- by roaming around the city and looking for popular hotspots, and by gathering at the Expo ’70 Commemorative Park in Osaka.
The price of one-day ticket is å3,500 (including applicable taxes). The gameplay will be available only on the selected date, time and location that is specified on the ticket. Participation in the event without a ticket isn’t possible.
It is to be noted that you will only be able to participate in the park experience as per the time that you select on the ticket. Additionally, both the morning as well as the afternoon park experiences will be the same, with the only difference being the time of the day that you, as trainers, are at the location.
How to catch rare Pokemon?
The best way to collect rare Pokemon is by, well, exploring! Once you enter the event, you will see more than usual Pokemon popping up from time to time, at various locations. Be it the Pokemon Center at the Osaka Station City mall or the various monorail stations across the city, there will be ample chances of catching your favorite Pokemon. It is best to bring your trainers’ gang along as there are also lots of raid battles that players can participate in.
Also, keep an eye out for the places where other players have already placed a Lure Module as chances are the rare Pokemon spawn here. To get a better chance of catching a rare Pokemon, try luring them with treats and then throwing a Great Ball.
