By Ankita Garg: Apple is likely preparing to launch its latest iPhone 15 series in September this year. While the official dates are yet to be revealed, the event usually takes place in the second week of the month. Apple is expected to unveil four models in the iPhone 15 series – standard, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max. Thankfully, the leaks have revealed quite a lot of things about the 2023 iPhones and so, there is very little to imagine. Here is everything we know so far about the new iPhones coming later this year.
Fresh iPhone 15 series leak hints at key changes, features, design
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 models are said to get some major changes this year. The standard iPhone 15 will ditch the broad notch in favor of Apple’s Dynamic Island display. We could see a punch-hole display design. The Pro and Pro Max versions are said to come with a new cutting-edge display technology called low-injection pressure over-molding (LIPO, which Bloomberg claims can significantly reduce the border size to a mere 1.5 millimeters, compared to the current 2.2 millimeters on existing iPhones. LIPO has already been successfully employed in the Apple Watch Series 7, resulting in thinner borders and a larger display.
Moreover, Apple could finally bid farewell to its exclusive Lightning charger, which has been a fixture on iPhones since 2012. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are tipped to be compatible with the widely-used USB-C charging standard. This change allows users to carry just one charger for all their devices, simplifying charging setups. Additionally, USB-C will enable faster data transfer speeds for those who still prefer cable syncing.
The iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are said to maintain a familiar appearance, but you can expect significant camera improvements and the high-end A16 chip from the iPhone 14 Pro line. Notably, the Pro models are advancing to a snappier 3-nanometer chip, making them even more capable. The new iPhone 15 Pro models will likely use Apple’s A17 chip.
The standard iPhone 15 models are rumored to sport 48-megapixel rear cameras, matching the capabilities of the iPhone 14 Pro models. This substantial improvement marks a significant leap from the 12-megapixel sensors found in previous iPhone models. The Pro Max variant, on the other hand, is expected to boast a more prominent camera module housing periscope lenses, allowing for optical zoom of up to 5-6x, accompanied by various other advanced sensors, elevating the photography experience to new heights.
Excitingly, a traditional feature found on iPhones for years, the physical mute switch, is making way for a more versatile and programmable “Action Button.” This new feature, revealed in the latest iOS beta version, will empower users to handle various functions, such as silent mode control, flashlight activation, Focus mode engagement, and even accessing the Translate app and magnifier within the iPhone’s camera app. This customizable button promises to streamline user interactions and elevate the overall usability of the iPhone 15 series.
iPhone 15 series prices leaked
But, the leaks claim that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models won’t be available at the old prices. The iPhone 15 Pro is said to cost $1,099, which is up from last year’s model price of $999. So, Apple may decide to launch the Pro model at Rs 1,39,900 in India because the company pegs each dollar at Rs 100.
Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be unveiled at $1,299, up from last year’s model price of $1,099. In India, Apple could announce the new Pro Max model at Rs 1,59,900. But, these prices are not official yet and so, users should wait for a month or two to know about the prices. Apple will likely launch its latest event in September this year. The official dates for the Apple event are yet to be revealed.
